About Me

My name is Amy, and I am a single mom of 2 amazing girls – 7 and 3.  Life is crazy for almost all waking (and sometimes non-waking) hours.  This past year has been “interesting” as my father would have said.  We’ve stayed at home, basically quarantined, since last March.  Fun times!

I was born in the Bay Area, but have been fortunate to have lived and worked throughout the US as well as overseas.  Those experiences have shaped me and my mindset dramatically.  I can only hope that my girls have similar life experiences to shape their outlooks on life.

At the ripe old age of 40, I had my first child on my own through IVF.  It’s not a path traveled by many, but it was the right one for me.  Because I like to beat the odds, I did it again at 44 and had my 2nd daughter also through IVF.  The three of us currently live in the Denver area and try to live life to the fullest.

I’ve been environmentally conscious for a very long time.  When I was 16 or so, my class presentation was on how McDonald’s beef demand contributed significantly to the Amazon Rainforest deforestation…I’m not sure I got a standing ovation back in the late 80s for this, but I was passionate about it and still am.  I am also very focused on how our day to day life impacts our planet, and I am passionate about teaching my children (and anyone that will listen) the impact of our actions.

This blog was created to share my views and opinions on a variety of topics that are extremely meaningful to me – everything from sentimental life lessons to light-hearted posts about well being, inclusion, acceptance, resiliency and optimism – most with a slant on green topics such as the environment, climate change and clean / green living

I hope you enjoy it as much as I love writing it.

Love & Peace,

The Almost Green Mom
